What do the children do during the day?
They are involved in developmentally age-appropriate activities. There is time for center exploration as well as teacher-directed activities through small and large group learning. Our staff takes time to individualize lessons to enhance each child's learning experience.

What do the children wear to school?
The children wear a school uniform that must be pre-ordered and purchased through school. The girls’ skorts may also be purchased through Quinn Uniform Company on Ivanhoe Ave.

1 main item, vegetable, fruit, dessert, milk. A printed menu is posted each week.
Do you serve breakfast at school?
No. Children are encouraged to eat breakfast or a breakfast snack at home.
What kinds of snacks are served?
Pretzels, crackers, graham crackers, cookies, juice, water

Do the children learn to read?
Children are exposed to reading through teachers reading stories, participating in a listening center, looking at books themselves, and a librarian comes once a month as a special guest reader. Rich print enviornments are created in the classrooms to help the emergent reader. Reading is taught in Kindergarten.
Do the children have to tie their shoes?
Pre-K is taught the skill with practice at home. Kdg. continues to practice this skill and should master it during the year. Home practice is encouraged.
Do the children have to zip, snap or button their coats?
Yes. Practice in Pre-K 2; Kdg. continues to practice this skill and should master it during the year. Home practice is encouraged.
Do the children learn addition and subtraction?
Addition is introduced at the end of the curriculum for Pre-K 2. It is modeled in their play with manipoulatives. Addition and subtraction are taught in Kdg.
What is the Atrium?
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, our religious education program,
takes place in a room called “The Atrium”. The
children are invited to a prepared environment that is an intermediary place
between the classroom and the Church.
How often does my child go
to the Atrium?
Each child goes to the Atrium once a week.
What do the children do in the Atrium?
The children have a short lesson with the catechist. Then, they are given time to use materials, develop practical life skills, and visit parts of the atrium.
What is the atmosphere like
in the Atrium?
The Atrium creates a safe, quiet place to work reflectively with a variety of materials.
What can parents do to support the Atrium program?
Parents can support the Atrium program by taking their children to Church where they can observe the liturgical seasons. They may also designate a quiet prayer corner in their home with a statue of Jesus and/or a Bible. Parents can encourage their child(ren) to pray with them at the end of the day.
