My name is Ellen Cibulka and I am the PreK2 lead teacher.  I love the 4 and 5-year old’s because they are interested in learning and become engrossed with different topics.  I graduated from The University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree.  I grew up in the St. Louis area and am recen
tly married.  I love to walk my dog, be with my family, and scrapbook.  I believe that a child needs to learn through hands on experience.  I am very involved in the outdoor classroom and strongly believe that there is a true beauty of children learning in an outdoor center.  I have taken courses from Missouri Botanical gardens, Litzsinger Road Ecology Center, and Missouri Dept. of Conservation regarding getting children outside and interacting with the natural world. I also try my best to follow the philosophy of Reggio Emilia.  This approach is nature based and examines the environment as the “3rd teacher” in the classroom.  I have read several books, attended workshops, and visited Reggio Emilia schools.  This philosophy connects the children with an imagination using loose parts, ties them to the community, surrounds them with calming colors/space, and gives them independence to make choices.
